Some registrars experienced problems in retrieving data from the co.za EPP system after the system upgrade of 28 August 2012. This in particular for registrars who based their systems on PHP code.
The problem occurred due to a combination of the system software based on the the Open SSL libraries, and effectively manifested in registrar systems not being able to read the first part (4 bytes) of the EPP response message representing the size of the EPP message.
To correct this error we strongly urge all registrars to update their systems in accordance with the details available here.
We have reverted the system software on the live epp system (epp.coza.net.za) to allow systems that have not implemented the above fix to continue operating. We have, however, upgraded the OT&E server (regphase3.dnservices.co.za) to the latest system software. This means that registrars will have to update their systems to operate with the OT&E system.
We will be upgrading the live epp system in this regard and will issue due notice when this will occur.
